“TOUGH TIMES NEVER LAST BOUT TOUGH PEOPLE DO.”
Robert H. Schuller.
Robert H. Schuller wrote this statement years ago but oh my, have I ever found it more relevant than today?
Friends we are living in unprecedented, unpredictable times. Bad news seem to outweigh good news on a daily and one can be excused for wondering if there is anything to look forward to.
If you are one of those who are on a blink of despair, no one should judge you. A lot has happened that is unfavorable- yet, there is hope.
I have a question; All of the worrying, complaining and blaming, that we have seen in recent times, has it gotten us anywhere? What is it that we need to think, say and do that can move us where we are, to where we want to be?
I want to share some good news with you. Despite what has happened in the world, everything is not lost. We can and we shall overcome by the power God if we allow ourselves to take on an empowering mindset. I love this formula by Jack Canfield E + R =O (Event + Response =Outcome.)
Covid 19 is here. It’s an event and that’s a fact. The world leaders are doing what they know how to do, scientists are working hard researching and are getting closer to finding a solution by the day. We all can’t wait for that day when there will be a vaccine or a cure and it will once again be safe to play and to move about and have physical contact. Yes we all want that.
However, this is what we have right now. Covid 19 looming around, less jobs, less business opportunities, schools closed, less and less income and constant bills! This is our reality right now.
The one thing that will get us from this situation of anxiety and despair to our break-though is our MINDSET. The moment YOU refuse to give up, the moment you say no to despair and the moment you begin consciously making empowering choices and taking planned conscious actions in the direction of where you want to go, that will already be a battle half won. The rest will keep following with every step and action you take.
Here are a few points to ponder as you plan to redirect your life, your thoughts and to plan winning steps towards your desired goals.
- Never Give up.
People who eventually eventually reach their goals and sustain life at their highest potential are not those who find life easy or who are born with a silver spoon in their mouth but those who persist consistently and overcome obstacles without giving up. Obstacles stand in your way to help you strengthen your resolve. Obstacles draw the line between winners and losers. Winners are re-energized by obstacles. They try to figure out a different course. They try to learn what they need to learn and to team up with others that may add value. WINNERS will do anything but give up! You are a WINNER! Keep going, you will finally get to your goals.
- Find Clarity.
People that tend to hold on to their dreams even when hard times hit are normally those that have clarity of what they want to achieve. Do you know what you want? Do you know your passion and your purpose in life? What makes you YOU? Once you are clear of where you are and where you want to be. Once you figure out what steps you need to take to get on your journey, any obstacle can delay you but it can never stop you.
So the covid pandemic may be delaying the accomplishment of your goals but it’s not stopping you. Only you can stop yourself. As long as you keep going in the right direction, you will eventually get there.
- No problem is permanent.
Covid 19 is not the first problem that has happened in life. Well, at least it’s not the first problem that happened in my life. Problems come and go, yet they leave some people better than they found them or worse. Which one are you? When covid 19 has been defeated by God and by scientists, who will you be at that time? Live everyday with the understanding that the pandemic is passing away and you will still be here. Start taking the steps to keep you safe so you will be here in the end. Then decide who you want to be when it’s all over. Start becoming that person NOW! Problems will always change you. They’ll either change you to become better or bitter. Which one do you want to become?
- Trust that you can.
You may not have a lot of evidence of being successful in the past. Maybe your grades in school were not at the top of the list. Maybe your career has stagnated in the past or your business has not hit the digits that you want. Probably some people have invalidated your brilliance and made you believe that success is not for you or that you are not capable. Most of us have met that careless incompetent teacher that made it your fault that you don’t understand what they are teaching instead of it being their fault that they are not good teachers. We’ve gone through the hands of a negative parent or guardian, a critical boss or even a critical spouse. All these people that are mostly close to us may sometimes say things that bruise our ego and cause self-doubt. It’s time to dump that limiting thinking pattern and get yourself on the path to moving from where you are to where you want to be- because you can!
Here is your take home message.
If everything else does not convince you, please remember that ‘Tough times never last but tough people do.’ This pandemic is going to show what material we are all made of. Are you able to withstand the challenges and emerge a better person through it all or are you going to blame everything and everyone else and sit around in self-pity until you turn into a bitter person? Or, are you willing to work on your attitude and to shift your mindset and to own the power to change the trajectory of your life starting NOW?
