Café Attendant

Our client, a fast-growing mid-level bakery located in Uganda is seeking to fill the position Café Attendant.  

Reporting to the Café Team Leader, the post holder shall play a key role in serving customers with excellence and delight, generating high customer loyalty, orders, referrals and sales.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To maintain proper records of all work done and materials used to support effective bookkeeping and accounting, both physical and electronic, and produce daily, weekly and monthly reports as required.
  • To actively grow sales through cross-selling, upselling and sourcing for referrals in order to meet sales targets set.
  • To ensure full accountability of cash, balancing of the till per shift, and no financial losses through mishandling of cash/sales transactions.
  • To run a highly organized shift including cleanliness, inventory management, dispatch of customer orders, goods inwards. 
  • To ensure adherence to all applicable standards and policies including internal operational manuals, hygiene, health & safety, KCCA and UNBS standards every day.
  • To deliver high quality café service, processing customer orders and enquiries effectively, serving in-store customers efficiently and effectively, dispatching customer orders in a timely and effective manner.
  • To closely track expiry dates on all products, and promptly withdraw from sale or use, any products not fit for purpose.
  • To actively seek customer feedback, suggestions, requests and ensure that these are channeled back through the Administration Team for prompt response/action.
  • To innovate and, where authorized, execute measures to drive customer loyalty
  • To promptly address any customer complaints and put measures in place to avoid repeat of incidents that may lead to customer complaints.
  • To be an effective and value-adding member of the Team, ensuring sustainable, profitable growth of the Company, embracing and living the company’s values and culture.
  • To conduct yourself with the highest levels of integrity in everything that you do, both at work and outside work.

Qualifications & Skills:

Minimum A-Level certificate

  • Barista certificate is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 6 months’ sales and/or customer service experience.
  • IT literate with ability to use MS Office applications such as Word and Excel, ability to use a Point-of-Sale system and ability to research the internet effectively.
  • Well organized with good time management skills; 
  • High integrity and strong character.
